Germanys Michael Raelert and Australias Mirinda Carfrae captured wins at the 2010 Rohto Ironman 70.3 California, an event in its eleventh year. Raelert, the reigning 70.3 World Champion who also set a course record at the Clearwater event, finished with an overall time of 3:58:27. Former Ironman 70.3 World Champion, Carfrae took the lead on the run and crossed the line at 4:20:29. A highly competitive mens field today consisted of the top five finishers listed below, in addition to several others such as past Ironman World Champion, Tim DeBoom and Ironman Champion, Michael Lovato. Exiting the water right behind the mens swim leader, Kyle Leto, Raelert took the lead at mile 40 on the bike, after a solid pace had been set by Andrew Yoder from the US Raelert claimed the fastest bike split of the day and maintained the lead throughout the entirety of the 13.1-mile run. Top five professional mens results are as follows: 1. Michael Raelert, DEU3:58:27 2. Matt Reed, USA4:01:17 3. Rasmus Henning, DNK4:02:07 4. Richie Cunningham, AUS4:03:02 5. Tim ODonnell, USA4:03:21 Carfrae also saw competition with a strong womens field and while Leanda Cave led out of water and entered transition in first after the 56-mile bike, Carfrae made up time in T2.
